2013 Wedding Planning Trends

22013 wedding planning trends
This year we’re seeing different trends in the choices and details made by brides for their wedding – such as color (emerald) or thematic elements (burlap). We’re also seeing a gradual shift not just in these individual details, but in how couples approach their weddings. So what are some of the 2013 wedding planning trends?

2013 Wedding Planning Trends

1) Couples are including elements with personal meaning to their wedding choices. They are expressing themselves through multi-cultural and/or inter-faith statements in their ceremonies and receptions. Signature colors, monograms and motifs pull the wedding theme together from save-the-dates to the wedding day décor.

2) The Internet and technology continue to play in important role in wedding planning. High tech access is used in vendor selection, gift registries, information sharing, guest information sources and communication with members of the wedding party. Even on the wedding day itself, some couples are having interactive hubs and social media walls during their reception where guests post comments, wishes, and photos they’ve taken at the wedding.

3) The importance of color continues in bridal apparel. While white and ivory remain favorites, designers are including touches of color to wedding gowns, such as Monique Lhuillier, with the use of subtle colors like blush pink and champagne. Romona Keveza has designed a stunning black and peach mermaid style wedding gown. Vera Wang (www.verawang.com) even debuted a line of black wedding gowns in Fall 2012, and red dresses in Spring 2013.

4) The groom’s role during wedding planning continues to grow. From the guest list to the thank you notes, more and more decisions being made jointly by the couple about all aspects of their wedding.

Brides need to remember that no mention of gifts, even “no gifts please” is ever made on a wedding invitation or with the invitation ensemble. It is acceptable to mention a wedding website on an enclosure card and that website can contain information about gift registry options.
