Throwing an unforgettable wedding will have all in attendance talking about it for years to come, which can make the day even more special for you and your partner. The good news is, there are countless ways to make your wedding unique and unforgettable.
Here are a few ideas for you to consider:
1) Select a unique venue
The truth is, some wedding venues have become the “norm,” and your guests may feel like they have seen it all. Why not go outside of the traditional wedding venue trends and consider having your big day at a unique venue? If you are out of “unique venue” ideas, you can consider using a small amusement park, a playground, mid-mountain ski lodges, an art gallery, and parks. In addition to being different, these venues are affordable. The more bizarre your venue is, the more of a “WOW” factor you give your guests from the beginning and whet their curiosity for what’s to come next.
2) Switch up your bridal entrance
The bridal entrance is always one to remember. You have waited for so long to have all eyes on you as you walk down the aisle in your beautiful gown. Although your guests cannot wait to see your bridal entrance, make sure they do not forget it! Make your wedding memorable by arriving in grand style. You can rent out a luxurious ride or perhaps come in as an elegant princess on a horse’s back.
The procession music is also something to consider making different. The traditional wedding march songs are timeless classics; however, choosing to take a different approach is a good idea. You should consider selecting a particular song you and your partner love. This would create a heartwarming atmosphere and make your guests feel connected to this moment. The beauty of that special moment would be embedded in their memory for years to come.
3) Keep the ceremony short
Your guests are happy to share your special moment with you, but they would not be pleased with a ceremony that takes a significant amount of time. You should understand that there are so many activities that make up the wedding and the special ceremony of exchanging vows is just a portion of the big day. Try to keep the procession (from the bridal entrance to the exit) as short as possible. A period of 30-45 minutes should be enough to keep your guests attentive. It would be best to refrained from wasting time. Be sure that the ceremony starts and ends in accordance with the time given to prevent guests from leaving or getting agitated.
4) Add a twist to your guest book
Traditionally, a wedding guest book gives the guests a chance to show they were in attendance and leave well wishes for the newlyweds. The married couple keeps this book for years after the wedding to look back on the beautiful people they shared their big day with.
However, instead of using a traditional guest book (like the average Joe), you can add a little spice. Replace the classic guest book with a remembrance of something you both enjoy. For example, if you are both music lovers, you can get your guests to sign music sheets or a guitar. Globetrotters can get their guests to sign a map or a globe. With the help of a wedding photographer, you can create a photo guest book with a picture of every guest and their warm messages. These souvenirs can become an excellent piece in your new home.
5) Make your out of town guests feel comfortable
Regardless of your wedding location, it’s likely that you have at least a few guests who came a long way to be a part of your incredible day. It would be best if you showed your appreciation by ensuring they are comfortable. One way of doing this is by giving your out-of-town guests staying in hotels welcome baskets or bags. These baskets or bags should include a few snacks, bottles of water, a map, and a list of places such as the local pharmacy, restaurants, coffee shops, and tourist attractions. If it fits in your budget (and is logistically sound), consider providing them with transportation to and from the wedding ceremony and reception (if it’s at another location). Generally, people do not forget how you treated them and made them feel. These guests would not forget your kindness and thoughtfulness towards them on a day as unique as your wedding day.
6) Have a non-traditional reception
A sure fire way to make sure you have an unforgettable wedding? Seal the night with another unique twist – a non-traditional reception! Start with a breathtaking reception entrance. Get your guests surprised and dancing by arriving at the reception with your dancing wedding train and the band encouraging you. You can also help your guests get into the groove by giving quick and easy salsa or swing lessons. You can also make an open bar available, serving customized signature cocktails to spread your wedding cheer. Creating a lounge at your reception for those who would want to be a part of the party but not right in the middle of things is an idea your guests would not forget.
7) Spend some time with each guest
It’s essential to personally greet every one of your guests. This will help to make your guests feel appreciated, and in turn, make your wedding memorable for them. So be sure to spend some time talking to them over shared drinks or visiting their table to speak for a bit, even in just for a minute or two. You can use this as the perfect time to give out wedding favors to show your gratitude and joy in having them celebrate this wonderful day with you.
You don’t need to do all 7 of these ideas, just do the ones you can so each of your guests will have an unforgettable time because you’ve made an effort to make your wedding memorable.
