2 Practical Considerations for Choosing Your Wedding Location

While a lot of wedding planning deals with aesthetics (who doesn’t want a pretty wedding?), it’s also crucial to keep a couple important practical wedding considerations in mind when choosing your venue. Whether you’re planning an overseas wedding with a handful of friends and family members, or a massive wedding in a huge venue in the city, there are so many different options that you can pick from. However, choosing a wedding venue can become an extremely daunting task, especially if you have too many ideas or options.

We don’t have infinite time and money, and our guests don’t have completely free schedules that they can fit around our wedding date. As such, you need to be practical and think carefully about your wedding location not just from a personal preference standpoint, but also from a logistics and practicality standpoint. So we’ll be covering two of the more practical considerations to keep in mind when choosing your wedding location.

2 Practical Wedding Considerations for Choosing Your Location

1) How many guests can you invite (and how many do you want to invite)
When you first start building your guest list, there’s a good chance that you’re going to write as many names as you can think of. Unfortunately, this could easily stretch to hundreds of names. You might be forced to find a huge venue just to accommodate everyone, but what if many of those guests won’t be able to make it?

At the end of the day, not everyone can fit your wedding into their schedule. Some people might have other responsibilities to take care of. Depending on the day that you book your wedding, there’s a chance that you haven’t given enough time for your guests to rearrange their schedules. They might need to book time off work, or need to hire different services and even book flights so they can make it.

So before you start looking at the best location for weddings , make sure you consider how many guests can realistically attend. Try to plan your wedding at least several months in advance, and decide if you want to have a relatively small wedding with a carefully picked guestlist, or if you don’t mind throwing an invite to everyone you’ve ever spoken to.

2) How convenient is your wedding location?
You should also think about convenience with your wedding location. While many friends and family members will go out of their way to attend your wedding, there’s a good chance that some people will decline based on the location or the lack of amenities and transport links. If you’re planning an outdoor wedding  in the middle of nowhere, then it’s going to be hard for anyone who can’t drive. You also need to think about accommodations. If there’s no place for people to stay, then some people may decline because it’s just too far away.

This gets even more complicated if you decide to have a wedding away from your home country. People will likely need to book their own flights unless you’re arranging it for them, and it could be a huge hassle to travel so far even for such a special occasion as a wedding

At the end of the day, you need to make your wedding location convenient for people to get to, especially if you want a huge event. But the more you handle the logistical side of things, the more likely people will accept your invitation.
