Fall wedding season is upon us, and if you’re planning a last minute affair you may be scrambling to get everything together before you walk down the aisle. Weddings should be memorable and special occasions, but the stress of pulling off the big day sometimes can overshadow the fun that should be had. So we’ve pulled together some tips and tricks to make sure that each last-minute detail can fall perfectly into place.

Tips and Tricks for Planning a Last-Minute Fall Wedding

Do a Lot With a Blank Slate

Touring wedding venues can be a lot. Should you get married at a hotel, or maybe in a cute barn? On a lake, or in the backyard of your childhood home? A wedding venue doesn’t need to come ready-to-go, there are so many things you can do with wedding rentals to spruce up a space and customize it for your special day. Some simple string lights, a beautiful tent, or the perfect chairs and tables can really tie an entire look together.

Get Thrifty With It!

Nowadays, people are embracing DIY and thrifted elements in their wedding days. Going this route offers you a way to do something totally unique that will have your guests wowed. Here are some of our favorite ways to thrift and DIY at a wedding.

1. Unique Tablewear

One of the easiest and thriftiest ways to bring some charm into your tablescape is to thrift mismatched dishes, glasses, and silverware. Doing this creates a boho-vibe, and brings new meaning to the idea of wedding china. You can either give the dishes away to your guests, or use them in your home so that you can remember your special day every time you open a cabinet.

2. DIY Bouquet

What better way to carry something down the aisle that represents your personality, style, and vibes on that exact day than by making your own bouquet? Making your own wedding bouquet is a cost-effective and unique way to personalize your wedding even more. Maybe you’re getting married on a farm, see if you can pick the flowers growing around the venue. Or maybe your mother has always kept a beautiful garden, what better way to walk down the aisle than with flowers she grew herself?

3. Handmade Favors

Putting in the work to make something personal and unique as a wedding favor will leave an impression on your guests for years to come. And it doesn’t even need to be too complicated! Handwriting each guest’s name card will surely touch them, and a lot can be done with stencils and some careful planning. Maybe a hand-painted frame with a photo you have with each special person! Or little jars of custom-mixed herbal teas! The possibilities are endless when you open up your mind.

4. Scrapbooking Station

This is maybe one of our favorite easy wedding activities that will give you something to hold onto for forever. Ditch the traditional guest book and set up a table with scrapbooking paper, scissors, fun sticks, and a few instant film cameras. Let your guests show their personalities and curate pages that feel like a representation of the exciting night you all had together.

Having the wedding of your dreams doesn’t have to mean also breaking the bank. The experience of the day is what matters most, not whether you curated the perfect social media post. You’ll remember the fun you had and the memories you made.

Fun Fall Touches

Autumn is such a wonderful time to get married. The leaves are changing, the temperature is cooling, and everyone has that same fresh feeling you never let go out (even if your last first day of school was years ago). Here are some of our favorite ways to bring the season into every element of your wedding day.

1. Have a Campfire

Maybe one of our favorite activities on this list, having a campfire to close out the night is an excellent way to casually wind down the night with friends and family you’ve been celebrating with all night. Break out the smores materials, let your cousin bring his guitar, and talk until the embers slowly fade away on the ground.

2. Serve Seasonal Treats

We may argue that autumn has the most underrated treats of any season. After all, who doesn’t love fresh cider donuts and hot apple cider? Whether it’s pumpkin pie, cinnamon rolls, or some warming pecan pie, we recommend bringing the flavors of fall into your menu.

3. Give The Kids a Fun Activity

Going to have kids at the wedding? Not sure how to keep them occupied while the adults all dance and celebrate? Well, we all know every kid’s favorite holiday is Halloween. Why not let them trick-or-treat? Set up bowls of candy in various spots in the venue (obviously always within eyeshot of an adult) and let the kids bounce from spot to spot collecting candy to their heart’s delight. They’ll have a wonderful and festive time.

Bringing a bit of the season into your wedding makes for a wedding that has a clear theme, direction, and festive flair. These tips can elevate any wedding into something truly special.

Last Minute? No Problem!

Adding on little touches for your last-minute autumn wedding can help the event feel like it has been meticulously planned years in advance. Little personal touches will always pay out dividends when it comes to making the perfect day.
