You’ll most likely have spent months, if not a year or more, planning for this one day!

The Ceremony Venue

Some couples prefer a traditional church wedding. Others want something a bit more unique. There are several really beautiful locations all around the world that offer something different.

A great setting for a wedding is (and a very popular choice) is a barn venue. Many couples have both their ceremony and reception there. Providing the weather is cooperative, their wedding ceremony will be held outdoors (in a beautiful field or woodsy setting), with the reception in the barn. A barn setting can be decorated in unique styles – from more rustic to more elegant, depending on the couples own style.

Various catering styles are fitting to the barn venue can vary depending on the couples’ style as well. From hog roasts, to food trucks, or whatever strikes your fancy, there’s a style to suit any couple. And with a barn wedding you’re sure to have a beautiful setting to get lots of fabulous pictures to look back on.

The Transportation

If you want to arrive to your wedding in style, you need to focus on the transportation. Luckily there are several options. Take a look at companies such as Luxe Limo Service to see some of the different options.

The first (and the most popular) is the classic limousine. You can also go low-key with a simple sedan, or choose a more elaborate vehicle such as a party bus or stretch hummer. Your transportation can be for just you and your fiancé, or for your entire wedding party.

Into something flashier, such as a supercar or exotic car? You can rent those too (but with a considerably higher price tag).

The Dress

Your dress is definitely going to be an important part of your wedding day. You’ll be spending the whole day in it, so you need to make sure it is the perfect mix of style and comfort.

A lot of brides are still choosing the more traditional ball gown. There’s something romantic about the puffy, floating dress. But many others are switching it up with some truly stunning and dramatic designs.

A very glamourous design that is currently on trend is the mesh see-through dress. Styles run the gamut from minimalist with some sheer details, to all over see-through. These beautiful yet daring dresses often feature sheer paneling and cutouts on the bodice or skirt, in body-conscious silhouettes (like the mermaid style worn by Kim Kardashian on her wedding day), to flowy A-lines.

What parts of your wedding do you want to go all out with?

Engagement Party Etiquette and Tips

Purpose of an engagement party – The purpose of an engagement party is to celebrate the couple’s engagement, pure and simple, and to help family members to get to know each another before the wedding day.

Who do we invite? – Keep in mind that just as with a bridal shower, those invited to an engagement party should also be invited to the wedding. The absolute “have to invite” people include the immediate families of the couple, their close friends, and the wedding party members (if they have been selected already).

Are gifts required? – No they are not. Again, the purpose of an engagement party is to formally announce and celebrate the engagement, and allow family members of both sides to get to know each other. Some guests may wish to bring a gift, but it isn’t necessary.

Who hosts the engagement party? – Unlike a shower, gifts are not expected. Because of this, anyone can host an engagement party (the couple can host if they choose, or either set of parents).

What should guests be served? – It depends on the style of the party. If it’s a dinner party, then some sort of substantial meal is expected, although a party with just snacks and simple desserts, or a buffet with finger foods can be just as enjoyable (as long as the time of the event doesn’t fall during a typical dinner time).

cupcakes

Does the engagement party’s theme have to match the theme of the wedding? – Not at all. The host can choose any theme he/she wants, as long as it is reflective of the happy couple. Like the rehearsal dinner, an engagement party should not be grander than the wedding. Remember to check out Wedding Paper Divas for fun engagement party ideas.

How to Find Inspiration for Your Wedding

You have gotten engaged and thought about a date for your wedding; now it is time to begin searching for inspiration for your wedding day. It may seem easy to just jump online and begin saving beautiful images you come across, or using a website such as Pinterest to add photos to boards to revisit later, but inspiration can actually be a little more difficult to come by than just photos on the internet. Instead, there are many ways you can find inspiration without getting caught up in saving thousands of images. We have compiled a list of places you can turn to for your wedding inspiration to help build what will be the perfect day you envision.

The Outdoors
What is more inspiring than a star speckled sky or rolling green hills? Couples can turn to the outdoors for all kinds of inspiration, from decor to flower arrangements and even venue ideas. The seasons can be inspiring as well; if you want to create a warm and inviting winter wonderland for your reception, think about how the ice catches the light in the middle of the day, or how calm and peaceful a snowfall outside is while you are sitting in front of a roaring fire.

Take a walk along a beach or in a wooded area and take in the sights and sounds. Bring a camera to capture something that might inspire you while on your walk, whether it is the color of a plant or the beach at sunrise or sunset. You are bound to find inspiration in the outdoors, even in places where you might not expect it.

Your Own Personal Style
Talk with your partner and see what inspires the two of you, or what you have in common that you both love. This is the perfect place for some ideas about your wedding and how you can incorporate your own styles that will let all the guests know exactly whose wedding they are at! Think about family heirlooms, shared hobbies or something that brought you two closer together. If you are already living together, consider how your home looks, as that will be a familiar style to your friends and family. If you like earth tones and your home reflects that, it can easily be worked into the wedding to represent you as a couple. However, if you add lots of color, it may not feel like your style and you may not like the end results.

The Big, Wide Wedding World
It is important of course to see what is trending in the wedding world and what kind of designs that companies are coming out with in terms of dresses. Bridal magazines, blogs and bridal events are several places where you can start, and going to events gets you in contact with people who may also become vendors for your special day. This gives you the opportunity to not only see their work (and sometimes sample it, if they are a caterer) but connect with them on a personal level and get to know a little bit about them.

Some other brides choose to turn to Pinterest for their inspirations, but it is important to not get lost in pinning hundreds of styled wedding shoots because it can often times be expensive to recreate. Instead, look for inspiration in certain aspects of photos, such as color schemes or floral arrangements.

Finding inspiration for your wedding can begin just about anywhere, and can lead you as a couple on a road to creating your perfect wedding, from flowers and food to favors and photos. Always look for inspiration with an open mind and you never know what you might find in everyday life.
