It’s the little things pull all of your wedding elements together and help make the day run smoothly. So if you are in the midst of wedding planning, or the big day is edging ever closer, what are the little things you really need to remember?
1. A Note (Or Present) For Your Husband-/Wife-to-Be
Depending on how traditional you are, you may want to get a little wedding day present for your significant other. If not, a note explaining how excited you are to finally marry him or her will help to calm the wedding day nerves. If you are going down the present route, something simple, such as a watch for him, or a bracelet for her is a nice choice. Getting it engraved with both of your initials and wedding date make an extra special touch.
2. Decor Set Up
From the wedding favors to the table settings, setting everything up can take up a lot of time, and you certainly don’t want it left until the last minute. If you have professionals providing any of your decor items, seriously consider having them also do the set-up. It may incur an additional expense, but think of the peace of mind you’ll have knowing it’s taken care of.
If you are doing the decor yourself, or your budget just won’t allow for the additional cost of paying someone, you’ll either have to set it up yourself, or assign the task to somebody else.
It can be very time consuming to set up 20 – 30 centerpieces, so one of the best options to get this done in a timely fashion (and not just thrown together) is to set up one complete centerpiece/table, take a picture of it, and then give the photo to who you’ve assigned to finish the remaining tables. This way they’ll know exactly what you’re wanting and what to do.
3. Wedding Playlists
For all the aspects of planning a wedding that can add to your stress level, this task can be the most fun. Sit down with your partner, open a bottle of wine, and go through the playlists you want. Select songs you would like to hear, and those you absolutely have to hear. Also include artists and genres.
Make sure you choose suitable songs for the meal section, and the cocktail hour, as well as music for your guests to dance to later in the night when they’ve had a few! It’s also important to decide what songs/artists/genres you really do not want to hear, and make sure to share all of this with your DJ.
4. Personal Grooming
Although nobody would see, if you’ve forgotten to shave your legs, it can be a bit mortifying and stressful, to say the least. This is probably a non-issue during the warmer months (shorts and skirts weather, you know), as it’s probably already part of your regular routine. But this may not be so during the colder time of the year.
5. A Memorable Way For The Day To Come To An End
This is another of the smaller wedding details that can be so easy to forget about, especially when you are trying to get everything else in place. But how do you want to remember the conclusion of your wedding day? The music stopping and the lights turned back on, and everyone just standing around? Or with a fun send-off from your guests?
Sparklers are a popular choice, but there several different ways to make an memorable, fun conclusion to your special day, whether it is confetti, rose petals, or something else. You can find plenty of wedding send-off ideas online. Having a fun send-off makes for fabulous photos, and is a fantastic way to for your guests to feel more involved in your wedding day.
It’s those little wedding details you need to remember, as they will diminish stress, add ambience, and add to the joy of your day. Yes, the little things do mean a lot.
