Let’s face it, there aren’t many days in your life more wonderful or exciting than your wedding day. You’ll want to create a memorable wedding that, from start to finish, is the kind of experience that you’ll always be able to look back on and be filled with love and joy every time you think about it.

Your wedding ceremony itself is certainly going to be the most important part of the whole day. After all, that’s the whole reason for the day, right? But that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing to think about. You’ll want the entire day to be just as magical as the moment you say “I do” don’t you? Well, then you’re going to want to make sure that the reception is just as wonderful.

You don’t want the best day of your life to just turn into yet another generic party. With that in mind, here are some things that you can do to make sure that your wedding reception is something really special.

1) Have A Theme

If you want your reception to be something truly wonderful and memorable, why not choose a theme? That way you’re not going to end up with a reception that looks boring or generic. The theme is, of course, entirely up to you and should be a reflection of you and your partner’s personalities.

Whether it’s Hawaiian wedding leis for your guests or a touch of vintage style in all of the decorations, there are plenty of ways that your theme can bring your reception to life.

Your theme can be expressed in a few subtle touches, or go into every aspect of your reception, from the decorations and lighting, to the food and even the music that’s played!

2) Add Personal Touches

There are dozens of ways to bring a personal touch to your wedding reception. Perhaps you’re the crafty type, and you want to make your own place settings so that they’re totally unique. Your guests can appreciate the care and attention that you’ve put into all of the little details throughout the entire receptions.

Not only that, but anything that’s unique or homemade is automatically going to be more memorable (because your guests haven’t seen it a million times before), and adds barrels of extra charm.

3) Do Something Different

A lot of the time, wedding receptions follow a pretty standard formula. People arrive, they have a few drinks, they eat, they dance, etc. Well, what if you decide to change that up a bit?

Sure, you’re still going to want to have your first dance, and you’re definitely going to need some food and a drink after all of the hard work you’ve put in, but there’s nothing to say your reception has to be anything like anyone else’s. You could set up games for people to play, a photo booth so that people can capture the memories of the day, maybe have some different forms of entertainment (perhaps a live event artist, magician or comedian).

Think about the theme of your wedding and ask yourself what kinds of things could you include that are going to be just a little bit different.

Of course, the most important thing to remember is that your guests aren’t the most important people at your wedding. You and your partner are! Make sure that you guys are happy with everything and your guests will be more than happy to see the two of you come together to celebrate your love for one another.
