National Iced Tea Day is observed annually on June 10th. This day is set aside to celebrate one of summer’s favorite drinks. Whether it is sweetened or unsweetened, with or without lemon, it is loved by many and enjoyed by the glass full all summer long.

You can enjoy a tall glass of iced tea with a wedge of lemon, sweetened with sugar, or plain. Peach and raspberry iced teas are popular favorites, as are other flavors such as lime, passion fruit, strawberry, and cherry.

Iced tea is the second most popular beverage (water is #1), makes up about 85% of all tea consumed. It can be readily found in restaurants, convenience stores, vending machines, grocery stores and self-serve soda fountains.

Iced tea has been around at least since the late 1800’s, as both English and American cookbooks from that era include recipes for this cold drink. The popularity of refreshing iced tea drink grew rapidly after it was introduced at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis.
