Love the water, sand, and surf? Then a beach wedding can be a great experience for both you and your guests. After all, you’ll have a beautiful locale for your wedding, and it gives you the chance to have a mini vacation while relaxing in the sun with cocktails, friends, and family.

1. Have Your Ceremony During the Day
The ocean really is one of the most beautiful backdrops you could ever ask for, so you should really have your beach wedding during the day. When the sun goes down, the water will go black and the entire sea will be lost.
Also, if you have your wedding during the day, you will have a ton of natural light for your photos.

2. Pick Hardy Flowers
If you are choosing a really hot destination then you’re going to want to choose flowers that can withstand the heat, such as orchids, succulents, calla lilies, and even freesias. Roses can wilt quickly in heat, so if possible, stay away from those.
Talk to your florist, and be sure to tell him/her that your ceremony will take place outside. They’ll be able to recommend flowers that can tolerate being in the heat.
3. Sound Systems
When you get married on the beach, you will have the waves, the wind, and a ton of other noise that you wouldn’t have with any other setting. And all this noise can make it very difficult for you to hear what words you are supposed to be repeating. For this reason, it’s a good idea for you to look into having a microphone and sound system. You may also want to invest in a microphone windscreen cover, as this will help block the noise from the wind blowing across the microphone.
Little considerations like this can make all the difference and it can make it much easier for you to enjoy your day.
4. Public or Private?
If you are looking at a seaside resort, then you may have to share the venue with other people who are not involved with your wedding. If you are concerned about having kids splashing in the pool while you are trying to relax before your big day, then it may be worth you trying to privatize the area. A lot of hotels would usually be more than happy to do this for you if you are willing to pay the price.
Although many venues have private areas for the ceremony, keep in mind that not all do. Find out before you book if the venue’s ceremony space is private or accessible to the public. If the space isn’t private, you may consider posting a couple people on either side of the ceremony area, diverting folks in their bathing suits from strolling behind while the ceremony takes place, and getting in all the pictures of the happy couple as they say their “I Dos”.
5. Dress Properly
Though they may work for most weddings, not every single wedding dress out there is suitable for a beach wedding. When choosing your dress, it helps to make sure that it is made out of a lightweight fabric. You might want to look into colored fabric as well – blues and even pinks can look great when you are on the beach, so it’s important that you don’t discount this as an option.
If you really want to have a veil on your big day then make sure that it isn’t so light that it blows around in the wind, and you spend half of your wedding ceremony trying to wrangle your veil. A great option is to get a set of veil weights. They’re inexpensive, and magnetic so they won’t damage your veil, and just heavy enough to keep your veil hanging straight (but not so heavy that it looks like something is pulling down on your veil).
