One of the very first things you will need to do when planning your wedding is to pick the wedding date. (After all, if you don’t know when your wedding will be, you won’t be able to get any of the other pieces and vendors in place).
For some couples, picking their wedding date is a piece of cake. Maybe there is a date that is special to them (such as the anniversary of their first date, their first kiss, or the day they met).
But there are couples who aren’t sure about how to go about picking “the date.”
Here are a several pointers to keep in mind to figure out the ideal wedding date for you and your fiancé:
1. What size wedding do you want? How many guests would you like to have?
2. What venue (or venue style) are you thinking of? The uber popular venues book up fast, (even a year or more in advance).
3. Are you thinking of having your reception in a tent? 
Most people associate a tent wedding with a time of the year where the weather isn’t too cold or too hot. However, don’t completely rule out certain times of the year, as many rental companies also offer heaters, fans, and even A/C units.
4. Do you have a preference about the season your wedding will take place?
5. Do you want your ceremony to take place indoors or outdoors?
6. Consider the day of the week. Do you want a Saturday, or are you open to a different day?
7. Do you have a particular honeymoon destination in mind? Is there an ideal time to travel there (or a particular time to avoid)?
8. Consider the weather. You’ll want to avoid certain weather “seasons” prevalent where your wedding will take place (such as tornado season or hurricane season).
9. Consider your budget. Certain times of the year are more popular wedding times, and will cost more than “off season.” Your budget can also affect the length of your engagement. A longer engagement will give you more time to save for your wedding.
10. What is your and your fiancé’s work schedules like? You want to make sure that you both are able to get the time off from work.
11. Are there any important “life commitments” going on for you and your fiancé, (such as a job promotion, graduating from college, or pregnancy)?
12. Are there any important “life commitments” going on for your guests, particularly those whom you can’t imagine not being at your wedding?
13. What other events are on the calendar (such as a major holidays or the Super Bowl)?
14. Do you have a particular gown style in mind? If so, it may be more suitable for a particular time of the year (such as lighter fabrics for warmer seasons, and heavier fabrics, long sleeves, and fur trims for colder seasons).

15. How long of an engagement do you want? If you just got engaged over the holidays, and your ideal engagement period is 6 months, then you’re looking at a late spring or a summer wedding. If you get engaged in the spring, and want a 6 month engagement period, then you’re looking at a fall or winter wedding.
16. Remember that you may need to compromise when setting your wedding date. Perhaps you love the winter and your fiancé prefers the summer. Compromise with a spring or fall wedding. Maybe you both would love a spring wedding, but spring is only a couple months away and you want more time to plan (and set aside money). Then choose a date for the following spring.
By taking these details into account, and being flexible to accommodate those that are most important to you and your fiancé, you will have your ideal wedding date.
