Having a solid Wedding Plan B in place is a planning must. Who wants a wedding that is anything but PERFECT, (meaning ‘just the way they’ve planning for it to be’)? No one, of course!
We all understand and hope that what you’ve been dreaming about and planning for your wedding comes true. However, on the offside chance that something does end up differently from what you’ve planed, you will need to make some adjustments. These will be much easier to do if you have anticipated and prepared for the unexpected. Not to mention, your wedding day will go much smoother, even if a little glitch does pop up.
We all know real life rarely goes 100% as planned (even a wedding). But it is the wise bride who has prepared that alternative Wedding Plan B just in case.
What are your plans if someone in your wedding party gets ill and can’t attend your wedding? Is there someone who could slip into the role of bridesmaid or groomsman? If the answer is ‘no one,’ then go with Plan B which is “who needs matching numbers”? You don’t really need an even number of attendants.
If you are planning for an outdoor wedding and reception, you do have a Wedding Plan B in case of inclement weather, right? You’ll also need to determine how everyone will know about the alternative location. This information must be shared in advance with everyone, from your guests to all of your vendors – the caterer, the florist, the photographer, musicians – and of course, the wedding party.
Now don’t dwell on potential problems, and remind yourself that Everything can be fixed in some way! Often times it will only be you who knows that something isn’t going as planned. If it’s minor, and not very important to you, forget it and move on. If it’s major, look at your plans and go to Plan B (or C, if necessary).
Be organized, stick to your plans, and stay focused.
And more importantly, stay positive. Remember why you are getting married in the first place. When wedding preparations seem to take on a life of their own and you find yourself wondering if it’s all worth it, remember why you’re doing it. You are celebrating the joining of your two lives. That’s a big wonderful thing and it’s worth a little chaos.
