Weddings are such exciting occasions, but planning one can be a daunting experience. It can be easy to go with the simple, tried-and-true, choices. But you only do it once (usually), so isn’t it worth putting in a little extra thought to make your wedding memorable. Here are some unique wedding ideas to make your event stand out.
1. Surprise Your Guests
You can make your wedding unique with things that will surprise your guests. Give your family and friends an event that they didn’t expect. One way is to surprise your guests with a non-traditional reception venue after the ceremony. You could all head to the beach for a party.
You could also surprise them with a fun mode of transport to take them to the ceremony, then later to the reception, then back to the hotel. Check out https://www.limohiremelbournenow.com.au/ for limo hire options. Make your guests feel as special as you will on your big day.
Why should you aim to surprise your guests? Many of them will have been to plenty of weddings before, and their memories of the receptions might have started to merge together. Switching things up is a good way to make your wedding stand out.
2. Encourage The Best Man To Shine
The ceremony is about you and your partner getting married, but the reception is about your family members and friends coming together to celebrate your union. A big part of this celebration is the best man (and perhaps your maid of honor or best woman – wedding parties do come in all “shapes and sizes” after all) saying their piece. You might want to send this post to your best man to help them put together a great speech. Give them some help to prepare for the speech and calm their nerves. They’ll want to get things right for your sake, so you don’t have to leave them to their devices.
Depending on your best man (and what you want on your wedding day) they may want to switch up their speech so it doesn’t seem like every other best man. Perhaps they could include a slide of funny photos and videos (as long as it’s not too long, embarrassing, or inappropriate for all guests to view).
Maybe you could even encourage them to choreograph a funny dance with the groom to get the party started on the dance floor after their speech.
3. Serve Memorable Food
One of the best parts of any wedding is the food. (At least, that should be the case). Make sure to give some thought to the dishes that you’ll offer, from appetizers to the entrees. You can give your guests a choice of entrees/meals, just make sure to put this on your RSVP card so they can easily indicate their choice). It’s also likely that some of your guests will have different dietary requirements; make sure you have some options. If you will be offering vegan options, for example, check out https://hellogiggles.com/love-sex/weddings/20-vegan-wedding-food-ideas/ for some inspiration.
Perhaps you could veer away from a traditional wedding cake and offer something unexpected such as a red velvet wedding cake, pies, cheese cake, or cheese “cake” (wheels of different types of cheeses stacked like a cake), for instance.
Remember, hungry guests will struggle to appreciate your special day. But don’t just fill them up and call it a day. Put out some tasty late night snacks to fuel them through the evening (because people will quickly regain their appetites after a few hours of dancing).
