1. When and why did you start your business?
I took the “leap of faith” into the wedding business back in 2007. I began my business while working for an event rental business who just rented out things for events/weddings. However, they did not set up, tear down or design anything for brides, and brides were wanting someone to do that for them.
So after speaking with the managers of the place, I soon began working with the brides and creating and designing their vision.
2. What made you start your business?
I started my business after brides were wanting more than just renting items for their weddings, they were looking for someone that could take their vision to the next level.
Describe your service/product you provide and how are you different from the rest.
I am a full service decorator. I meet with my clients, listen to their story and what they want for their big day. I then create/design their wedding with all the details, execute, and also tear down the decor afterwards.
I think customizing things is what makes my business unique. I do get a bride from time to time that just tells me to “do whatever I want and would look nice.” However, even with that freedom to do just that, I still will customize things after listening to her story. A wedding should be a reflection on the bridal couple, so that is where I come in.
3. What words best describe you?
Attentive – I listen closely to what couples tell me, and I even sometimes pick up on other things all while talking to them. Passionate – I love what I do, I love being a part, even if it’s just a small part, of their special day. I work hard and research things to make sure they have the wedding of their dreams. OCD, LOL, I am a very picky decorator. I will not leave a venue until every little detail is picture perfect. That is one thing my brides tell me is that I pay attention to detail.
4. What words best describe your company?
The word that best describes my company – Dream Come True Custom Wedding Decor is “trust”. My clients trust I will visualize and execute every detail to the fullest, communicate with them and go above and beyond to make their event memorable.
5. When did you first realize you wanted to work with weddings?
I have always loved every aspect of weddings since I was young. I have an eye for detail and somewhat of an art to styling things from tablescapes to backdrops. People always would tell me to start a business up, and finally I took the opportunity when it came my way. I have never looked back.
6. What is your favorite part of a wedding?
I love every aspect of a wedding. However, I have two favorite parts I love – one, is getting to know my clients, and two, when the bride first appears and starts walking down the aisle, I love to watch the groom’s reaction. That reaction sets the whole mood for the wedding day.
7. If you could provide custom wedding decorating service for any celebrity (past, present or future), who would be the lucky couple?
I have always wanted to do the wedding of Jennifer Aniston. Her personality and fun disposition would make for a grand wedding. I believe we could work well together to pull off this major event. I love florals, and I think she would be the best person to want to bring in florals in neutral colors with just a hint of color. Total romance!
8. When you are not working on a wedding, what do you like to do for fun?
When I am not doing weddings, I love to work in my flower beds, watch a good movie, take long walks and work with my school’s Jr. High cheerleaders, where I coach them.
9. What trends do you see for 2024-2025?
The trends I see for the upcoming wedding season are soft, romantic colors, dessert tables, smaller, more intimate weddings and “grazing tables” before the dinner.
10. What inspires your designs?
Sometimes when I am researching something, I get inspired by something. Most of the time, just listening and talking with a client, I can picture something and go from there.
11. What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is building relationships with clients..
12. Do you have any final advice for brides and grooms?
My advice to clients is to not be afraid to be different. Add that bold color or go completely opposite what friends expect you to do. Weddings reflect the couple’s personality, so think outside the box and go for being unique.
I also recommend having regular conversations with your vendors as it’s important that everyone is on the same page. Just enjoy the day and take it all in as it will fly by in the blink of an eye and soon will be just memories.
