For the Groom – Romance 101

Romance 101 - Scrabble Tiles Spelling Romance

Hey fellas! Did you know that it’s easy to express your interest in the wedding planning with little romantic gestures for your bride-to-be? All you need is a little bit of Romance 101.

Just because she’s said “Yes,” and that she will be saying “I do,” it doesn’t mean that you don’t have to work at this relationship anymore.

With all of the wedding planning details you both will be taking care of, as well as your job, and perhaps going to school, not to mention all the everyday things that still need to be taken care of, (like shopping for groceries and doing the laundry), you may not have much time left in the day just for the two of you. Your “us” time is limited, and at a premium.

So, here are a few ideas you can do to remind your beloved that you haven’t forgotten why she’s the love of your life, and that will let her know that you’re always thinking of her.

Romance 101

1) Give your fiancée a “just because” gift
The power and specialness about “just because” gifts isn’t in their size or monetary value, but in the love and sentiment they evoke. Try a book of love poems (or a love poem written by you), a framed 3×5 photo of the two of you, a cd by her favorite group, a small bouquet of flowers (or a single red rose – a classic!), or a little drawing (maybe a heart with an arrow going through it and both of your initials). These “just because” gifts can be given to her outright, or left in places she’ll be sure to find them.

2) Take your fiancée out on a real date
The emphasis is on “real.” You might want to take her somewhere special. Or perhaps a simple burger and the movies. Talk (and listen) about how her day went (and yours too). Impress her with your charm. But no wedding talk! This is a time for you to kick back, relax, have fun, and just enjoy being with each other.

3) Treat her (and yourself) to a candlelit dinner for two
Is there anything more special, and that says “I love you” than having someone cook you your favorite meal? Well, maybe there is, but this one ranks right up there. It doesn’t have to be a fancy gourmet dinner, but something you know she enjoys. Perhaps paired with a bottle of wine. And don’t forget the candles.

4) Send a note to your bride before the ceremony
On the morning of your wedding, write a little note to your bride-to-be and have your best man deliver it to her for you. It doesn’t have to be a long letter. Just something to let her know that you’re thinking of her, and how much you love her, and are looking forward to seeing her walk down the aisle.

If possible, choose a nice card or pretty stationery. But if neither of those are handy, a piece of notebook paper will do just fine. However, don’t send it too soon before the ceremony begins, since this lovely note will probably elicit tears of joy causing her to cry off a bit of her make-up. She’ll need some time for a little mascara touch up.
