2019 Wedding Trends

Wedding season is upon us, and it’s a good chance that you’ve been invited to a friend or family members upcoming nuptials. Or you and your partner may be the happy couple, and you’re planning your own wedding. Wondering what wedding trends you’ll be seeing at weddings this year? Want fresh ideas for your wedding? Then check out our list of 2019 wedding trends.

Color Schemes

Couples will embrace brighter and bolder color palettes, as well as those that feature softer, muted and neutral hues for their weddings.

Industrial Chic and Metallics

These two on-trend elements go hand in hand.

We will still be seeing a lot of metallic touches in accents, decor, and accessories. Gold, silver, copper (being the big one), rose gold (also big), brass, even rust.

Metallics can be used for different wedding styles – from high gloss and glam, to more rustic, and even “industrial chic.” Be on the lookout for metal in just about any element of wedding decor:

• Copper WireCopper wire lanterns from Something Old Dayton

• Bare Light Bulbs

• Metal Chairs

• Metal Table Numbers

Florals

Bouquets will be tamer than last year, still natural but more constructed/structured, less “just picked.”

We’re going to be seeing more greenery and foliage in centerpieces and other decor.

Also, we’ll be seeing soft romantic flowers such as peonies, english garden roses, dahlias, carnations, ranunculus.

Attire

There will be a return to ‘Elegance.’ We’ll see more Black Tie weddings that are still fun and festive. And thanks to Megan Markle (I personally LOVED her wedding dress) wedding gowns will be simpler/minimalist.

We’ll also see a shift to more simple and natural in make-up.

Food

Bite-sized foods aren’t just for dessert anymore

• Meal: Mini burgers, sliders, grilled cheese bites, tomato soup shooters, mini pizzas, taco bites

• Dessert: Strawberry shortcake on a stick, mini parfaits
• Late night snacks: donut holes, cookies and milk, espresso shots, freshly popped popcorn, french fries

Donuts will still be one of the big 2019 wedding trends, but with more creative displays.

• Stacked – in the shape of a tiered cake, or on individual cake stands and platters

• Mini donuts during cocktail hour

• Bagged as favors and sent home with guests at the end of the event

• Flaming donut station – topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a choice of toppings
