How To Plan A Wedding! – Where To Start After You Get Engaged

So the question has been popped, and you’ve said YES! Congratulations are in order, and wedding plans will have to be made. Maybe you or your fiancé already have some ideas in mind, or you may be starting from scratch. Either way, now that the engagement is official you can start getting down to business of planning the day you’ve always dreamt of. If you are like most couples, you are wondering how to plan a wedding. Where to start? What to do?

First, you and your future spouse need to think about what you want to include on your special day. After you have done that, and have created a budget, you can start putting plans in place. While it would be brilliant if we could plan without having to worry about costs, in reality we can’t always afford everything we would really like. So think about which things matter most and prioritize these first.

However, there are some things that you need to consider and plan for regardless of where they fit on your list of priorities. So let’s have a look as some of the areas that are important for all weddings, and that many couples do choose as their top priority areas when planning their big day:

The Location

While different than your venue, the location is an extremely important factor to consider. It’s more about thinking about the town, city, village, state, country and so on. Maybe a particular area of the world calls you, or you want to make sure you are local so that all your family can attend. Maybe you are thinking about a certain theme like a forest so you need to make sure you have a picturesque area to take pictures.

The Venue

After you’ve determined the general area where you want your wedding to take place, you can start looking at different venues. This one should be high on everyone’s list, as it’s hard to make plans when you haven’t decided where the wedding will take place.

Then once you have your venue sorted you can start to plan everything else around it. There is a large array of different styles when it comes to wedding venues, so you’re sure to find something that fits your taste. Whether it’s a manor, a castle, a hotel, or maybe tent rentals, it still leads to creating your “perfect” day.

However, try not to worry too much about making it perfect, as “perfection” in real life doesn’t truly exist. If you find that you are having trouble finding the picture-perfect venue that your younger self may have dreamt about, instead think about what aspects of the venue are most important to you, and go from there.

The Dress Or Suit

This is the dress or suit that you are going to be wearing on one of the happiest days of your life, so for many of couples it’s important to get it just right. If what you are going to wear is high on your list of priorities, you may choose to allocate a chunk of the budget to get this part right. Think about your personal styles and wedding style before looking for your wedding clothing.

Regardless of the level of importance or how much you choose to spend, you’re certainly going to want to look your best, so no one will blame you.

The Ceremony

Although it’s the part of the wedding before the party takes place, for many couples, their ceremony is the most important part of the entire wedding day. It’s the time when they exchange vows in front of their loved ones. It’s the entire reason for the day! So it’s no surprise that it’s high on the priority list.

If your ceremony is a high priority for you, consider which elements, such as the music, readings, level of formality and tradition, will work best for you and your future spouse.

While these four important areas are often a top priority for many couples, there are many more wedding planning areas, so priorities will be different for each couple. So when you are thinking about how to plan a wedding, specifically your wedding, always take your own priorities into consideration.
