Like many couples, you’re probably striving to be different on your big day, so non-traditional wedding ideas may be perfect for you. Of course, a lot of people love the idea of tradition, but no matter how traditional you want it to be, you may still want to add a unique touch to your day here and there. And let’s not forget how stressful planning a wedding can be. So, how do you make that happen? With that question in mind, here are 5 non-traditional wedding ideas to help you think outside of the box.
1) Think about the entertainment and the day
A lot of thought often goes into the actual look of the wedding day itself. Rightly so, which can mean the guest experience is left as an afterthought. But every bride wants people to enjoy their big day, so this is where thinking about the other types of entertainment can work well for you. Like many weddings, you’re probably having a band or DJ. Consider out of the box wedding ideas in other types of entertainment, such as a magician, harpist, or even something like a 360 photo booth to keep your guests happy.
2) Consider non-standard venue options
Perhaps the traditional wedding venue types of a church and hotel/banquet room isn’t what you are looking for, so a bit of research and discussion could inspire some alternative venue ideas. Maybe you want something grand that makes a statement, or, on the other hand, you may want something simple that says a lot about you as a couple. Perhaps a local brewery, library, or sports facility. These days the choices for your venue goes beyond the usual hotel or banquet room.
3) Have a different theme for your day
There is an growing trend for incorporating a wedding theme. You can do something completely out of the ordinary these days with your wedding as the day is all about you as a couple. You can choose to be completely different and go all out, or merely add small hints and touches of your theme through your venue, the decor, or the food. The options are endless and websites like Pinterest are a great source of inspiration for things like this.
4) Go against the grain when it comes to your ceremony
There are also many options now when it comes to your ceremony. You can always stick with a traditional church or civil ceremony, but spiritualistic ceremonies like pagan or even things that take into account your interests and passions with things to do with astronomy and astrology may be a better fit for you and your partner. Just make sure you do what feels right for you as a couple and discuss your options in detail before making any big decisions.
5) Consider a destination wedding rather than local
Finally, you can consider other options rather than sticking with your local vicinity. More people love the idea of a destination wedding abroad and often see it as a less stressful option. They are usually a much more smaller more intimate affair; can cost less as they are smaller, and many destination venues offer all-inclusive packages; and can double as your honeymoon.
