4 Important Things to Consider When Planning a Wedding for 2021

The coronavirus pandemic has affected everything worldwide, and when it comes to weddings, over 60% of engaged couples had to reschedule to accommodate the new changes and stay safe. This was a disappointment to many, but in 2021, most can go back to their plans, although celebrations will not be the same for a long time. If you are starting your wedding planning during covid, here are four important items to consider.

1) Think of a Virtual Wedding

You may think of live streaming the wedding where everything is online. From a virtual officiant, guests, and even vendors such as a virtual magician, you can go on and hold a successful event without risking or spending much. Get a reliable live stream service, then let your guests know about the plans. You may also consider sending virtual invitations and creating as many activities as possible such as a photo session to make the wedding colorful. Also, hold a virtual reception complete with a cake cutting party with your guests.

Alternatively, you can hold both a virtual and a physical wedding with few invited people, such as your immediate family members. Some friends or relatives may feel bad they were not invited to the physical wedding. Some may decline your invitation due to personal health concerns or hectic international travel regulations that may still be in place.

2) Know the Local Regulations Concerning Gatherings

Your planner can help you stay informed about the latest regulations concerning gatherings and the places that are authorized to hold events. Many areas have rules governing how many people can attend an event, the seating arrangements, wearing face masks, and even an event’s duration. Make sure you understand the regulations before you start your plans.

3) Understand Vendors Mode of Operation

Some vendors may only choose to offer virtual services, while others have will only work on events with a limited number of guests. Some may not even be in operation. You need to find out what requirements they have to minimize risk. You may have to source all vendors from your local community, or depend more on virtual vendors. Also, how much will it cost? What is needed to facilitate any virtual services?

4) Understand Your Guests Concerns

If you are able to hold a physical wedding, it’s likely your guests will want to know the measures that will be taken to make the event safe. Some may have concerns about whether the guests will be required to sanitize and wear masks or any steps to avoid overcrowding or congestion. When sending out the invitations, include an enclosure that spells out the most common concerns and expectations and let your guests know you will keep them updated on the progress and any changes.

When wedding planning during covid, it’s also important that you remain flexible as plans can change drastically. It’s hard to predict how the year will end and if there will be any new regulations that can affect your wedding. Also, understand that many more weddings will happen this year due to the weddings and events postponed from 2020. You may have to plan and carry out the wedding in the shortest time possible with the resources at hand.
