3 Annoying Wedding Day Dilemmas (& How To Easily Avoid Them)

You’ve made so many plans and decisions for your wedding – what types of food to serve, what the centerpieces will look like, what you will wear . . . You’re certainly not anticipating any wedding day dilemmas.

But what about the unexpected? You don’t expect to encounter an emergency at your well-planned wedding. But despite the most organized efforts, sometimes things you couldn’t plan for, happen – and they happen with no fault of yours.

Our best advice is to be composed and ready. Try to anticipate the most obvious areas of concern with a Plan B and other “plans of attack” to avoid these common wedding day dilemmas.

Wedding Day Dilemma #1 – What can I do if I can’t stop crying?

3 Annoying Wedding Day Dilemmas (& How To Easily Avoid Them) - Bride Can’t Stop Crying

Stop trying to stop. If you try to suppress tears, you are likely to turn into a sobbing mess instead of just having tears in your eyes. You don’t want any ugly crying on your wedding day. Instead, allow yourself to feel the emotions, and realize that some emotions come with tears. Let yourself cry.

Guests are likely to see this as charming and there is a good chance that some of them will be joining you. (Happy tears are contagious!). Just remember that those are tears of joy and happiness. Focus on your bride-to-be or groom-to-be, and on your officiant. That should help.

To avoid racoon eyes, be sure you use waterproof mascara.

Wedding Day Dilemma #2 – How can I keep my teeth lipstick free?

It happens to many women when they are in an environment where they are smiling constantly. This will cause your mouth to get dry, leading to their top lip sticking to their teeth. Take a hint from pageant participants and dab a bit of Vaseline on your front teeth – just don’t overdo it.

Another way to help keep lipstick off of your teeth is the “Finger Trick.”

1. Apply lipstick to the top and bottom lips, making sure to get the inside part so there isn’t any bare lip showing.

2. Put your finger in your mouth, wrap your lips around it, and pull your finger out.

Any lipstick that would have gotten on your teeth is now on your finger.

Wedding Day Dilemma #3 – Who knew I had this allergy?

3 Annoying Wedding Day Dilemmas (& How To Easily Avoid Them) - Allergic To Bouquet

We’ve heard of a bride who, when she picked up her bridal bouquet, held it close to smell its fragrance and launched into a series of sneezes.

Fortunately, this was before she and her father headed down the aisle, and luckily her wedding coordinator had a well stocked emergency kit that included a book wrapped in satin and tied with ribbons that held a small gathering of white silk flowers.

What should you do? If you even suspect a possible allergy, let your florist know in advance. If you’re unsure, ask your florist for sample blooms for you to smell. Most florists have a variety of flower types on hand, and this will give you the chance to make sure none will bring on sneezes or watering eyes.

If any type of fresh flower will bring on a sneeze attack, a bouquet of gorgeous silk flowers is a fabulous option. And many silk flowers look so realistic, you may even fool the bees.

  1. This is really good information! I never would have thought about the flower allergy. I’ll have to remember that when it’s time for my big day 🙂
