Your Guide To An Intimate Wedding in 2020 and Beyond

Having an intimate wedding in 2020 is not only popular, it’s essential. Many people are now not able to have the huge, dream weddings that they once planned for. This can be devastating for some, and some would prefer to hold off getting married at all until they can have everybody they love there and throw the OTT party that they’ve always wanted. However, couples who just want to be married are embracing this and doing it regardless. If you’re in the latter category, then these pointers will help you to plan your intimate wedding in 2020 and beyond:

Only Invite People That Absolutely Have To Be There

First off, your guest list is obviously going to need to be limited somewhat. You need to come up with a guest list but remember to include your photographer and anyone else that must be there on the day in the number of limited guests.

How are you supposed to decide who gets to come and who gets the boot? Ask yourself, would you go to coffee one on one? Have you seen this person in the last 6 months? Could you imagine getting married without them there? Answering these questions may be tough, but it’ll definitely help you to have the people there that you really want.

Ditch The Wedding Party

You don’t need to have 6 bridesmaids and other members of the wedding party. You can go small, and have just one person by each of your sides if you would still like a sister or a friend to have a role to play in the ceremony, or you can ditch the wedding party altogether.

Consider Having A Weekday Wedding

A weekday wedding can be amazing, providing you give your guests plenty of notice to get off work. You will have cheaper costs, and your chosen suppliers are more likely to be available when you need them. It might not be a fabulous weekend wedding party, but it’ll be a lovely intimate ceremony and reception providing you give your guests ample time to sort it out.

Keep The Basics In Mind As You Make Plans

Make sure you keep all of the basics in mind as you make plans. No matter how small and intimate your wedding is you’re going to need to arrange the following:

• Food
• Bar staff
• Decor
• Entertainment
• Rentals

It might be worth looking into hiring a wedding planner, even if just to help you coordinate everything on the day. Getting everything just right and being able to avoid worrying about the bar falling short on stock while you enjoy your day will be worth it.

Ensure Your Wedding Venue is For You Exclusively

If you want to have a special day with your favorite people, make sure your wedding venue has been booked for you exclusively. Unless you want to share with another couple or have members of the public wandering around on your big day, this is a very important factor to take into account. It’s worth noting that finding a suitable venue can be a little more of a challenge, so you may need to remain open-minded and get creative. Look for venues with private rooms or small function rooms that you could transform into your very own celebration space.

Skip The Things That Aren’t Important To You

You don’t need to stick to a traditional wedding or the traditional format at all. You can keep what matters to you, and take away what doesn’t, leaving a wedding day that is entirely personal and special to you and your partner.

Don’t feel obligated to keep things that you don’t want to do, for example, the first dance, or dancing at all! If your guests would rather sit and chat than dance, then you know what you need to do.

Are There Drawbacks of an Intimate Wedding?

The main drawback of planning an intimate wedding is that you only have a small number of guests to celebrate with. If you have a large family or a lot of friends then this can make it really tough to plan a day that you are happy with.

You can always get around this by having a separate party to celebrate at a later date with a bigger group of guests. However, you may not want to do this if it doesn’t feel authentic to you and your partner. Ultimately, this is your big day – do what makes you happiest.
