But in order to have the “perfect” day, it takes some time and planning to get it that way (not to mention a few emergency “Plan Bs” in place, and some wedding planning hacks to make things easier).

So with that in mind, here are a few tried and true hacks for your wedding, to make sure that you seal the deal without a glitch.

Weather

Regardless of the time of year your wedding will take place in, you need to take into account the weather. More so if you are going to be married outdoors.

1) In case of a breezy/windy day – have weights sewn into your veil to keep if from getting blown around and getting in your face. This will help lower your stress levels on the day, and keep your photos looking amazing.

2) Hot day – if you’re thinking of having ceremony programs, make them into fans by gluing your programs onto popsicle or craft sticks.

Cake/Dessert

3) If you are planning to serve the wedding cake at the reception, then you may need to get a large cake to be able to have enough for all of the guests. But wedding cakes can come with a large price tag. Instead, have kitchen cakes (hidden in the kitchen), to keep the costs down. Unlike sheet cakes, which obviously don’t look the same when cut and plated as the actual wedding cake, kitchen cakes are undecorated (they are iced/frosted), unfilled cakes.

4) Serve cupcakes or cake pops for dessert instead of a traditional wedding cake. You’ll spend less per serving, and since they don’t have to be cut and plated, you’ll save on the plating fee most caterers charge.

8 Simple Tips to Writing Your Own Wedding Vows

Invitations and RSVP Cards

When you are planning your wedding and sending out the invites, you don’t want any RSVPs to get lost in the mail or in a junk email box.

5) Create a brand new email just for the wedding. Everything wedding related will be all in one place, from vendor communications to messages from guests if you choose email as a method for your guests to RSVP.

6) Sometimes guests forget to write their names on the RSVP card before mailing it back to you. (Oopsie!) To avoid any mysteries, number your guest list (the one you’re using to mail your invitations), then in a corner on the back of the RSVP card, write the corresponding number. That way, if it comes back with no name, you’ll know exactly who it is from.

Venue
7) When you are looking for the place to hold your reception, make sure that you check with the reception centres and see what all they offer. Do they offer welcome drinks or a champagne toast? Do they have any vases or decor items you can use? How about tab le linens and napkins? Many times these all-inclusive deals will cost much less than if you chose the same items a la carte. And it will save you time in researching where to get and purchasing these items.

8) Double up things like favors and table name cards by having each favor personalized (like a cupcake in a box with a name flag topper, for example).

Attire

9) What shoes are you going to wear on the big day? Think it through – not just the heel height, but what type of surface you’ll be walking on. If you’ll be on grass or sand, but have your heart set on a particular pair of stilettos, then look for some clear heel covers to keep you from sinking down into soft surfaces.

10) To wear a bra or not to wear a bra; that is the question. Wearing the proper undergarments will make your clothing fit (and look) better. But you certainly don’t want bra straps hanging out. So get a bra that can be sewn into your wedding dress. This can be especially handy if it is sleeveless or just has a bit of a sheer or lace fabric on the top of the bodice.

11) On your wedding day, while you’re getting ready, make sure to wear a button down shirt. This will save you from messing up your hair and make-up from trying to take off a pull over or t-shirt.
